If you have ever been involved in a network marketing business, you will know how hard it is to get facts across to people. It is as though they have this invisible mountain between yourself and them and it is going to take a bulldozer to remove it so they can actually hear you. You might be marketing the world’s most incredible products but not one word hits home. That is caused by what I like to term “preconceived opinions”. Now preconceived opinions are controlled by influences from the outside and goes straight in the filing cabinet in your mind that says “bring up whenever this subject comes up and use as a protective defense against intruders”.

However, this “decision” mostly lands in the mind unsorted, unfiltered and without rational understanding and research. You trust the source and that’s good enough for you. But the scary thing is, once it is there, well, you know the story – it is going to take a bulldozer! It plants itself in a piece of the mind that says “DO NOT MOVE!”

Well, I am sad to say “Torah” has been dealt the same blow. Just about every person you mention the word to comes up with their defense immediately. “We are not under the law – we are saved by grace!” and the conversation ends there because no matter what you say, they feel you are attacking their foundational salvation, which has been planted with the “DO NOT MOVE” poster.

So, today I am going to ask you to hold on to your posters for a short while. I am going to assure you that this is not connected to removing your grace, neither is it challenging your salvation. It is however the one subject that every teaching in the Scriptures evolve around and to remove it is to make your walk unstable. To embrace and understand Torah is liberating, a very light load, brings the most incredible favour and blessing and it brings a joy and a release like nothing in this world.

You see, Torah is not the law as people imagine it to be. In Matthew 15:1-9 this message is clearly demonstrated.

Then there came to יהושע scribes and Pharisees from Yerushalayim, saying,

“Why do Your taught ones transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”

But He answering, said to them, “Why do you also transgress the command of Elohim1 because of your tradition?

“For Elohim has commanded, saying, ‘Respect your father and your mother,’ and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’

“But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me has been dedicated,”

is certainly released from respecting his father or mother.’ So you have nullified the command of Elohim by your tradition.

“Hypocrites! Yeshayahu rightly prophesied about you, saying,

‘This people draw near to Me with their mouth, and respect Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.

‘But in vain do they worship Me, teaching as teachings the commands of men.

Here it is clear as day. The religious leaders did the same then as they do today. They have made traditions and laws that over ride the teachings of the Father….That is the LAW. Torah is not the Law – it is the instructions and commands of our Father.

The religious system honours man made festivals like Christmas and says “ignore His Festivals”. Go and do your homework. These Festivals in Torah we are commanded to honour as an everlasting command. Then comes Easter which is actually the Festival of fertility. Only a blind person would not see the connection between eggs and bunnies. If you have never asked what the connection is between Messiah dying and Easter eggs then you have some serious work to do!

Isa 29:13 And יהוה says, “Because this people has drawn near with its mouth, and with its lips they have esteemed Me, and it has kept its heart far from Me, and their fear of Me has become a command of men that is taught1!

Mar 7:7 And in vain do they worship Me, teaching as teachings the commands of men.’

2Ki 17:19 Yehudah, also, did not guard the commands of יהוה their Elohim, but walked in the laws of Yisra’ĕl which they made. (Man made laws)

So, here Yehushua shows the laws He defies and they are not the commands from the Torah from His Father that he defies. It is the man made laws that He speaks out against. Yehushua endorsed and followed Torah. He said He is the Way, the Truth and the Light. Follow His example.

Now if that does not act as a bulldozer then I don’t know.

The father of conspiracies hasatan himself has done a good job in making it the trend of Christianity to deny the validity of the very Book that it bases its religion on. I hear more often “Oh, that does not count anymore”, than “Isn’t His Torah awesome? The blessings are incredible.”

If you buy a car, along with it one always receives an instruction manual. In it is information that will help you get the most out of your car. Ignore it or lose it and you will never get full benefit from that vehicle. There will be aspects you never understand or realize are there. I have a friend who bought a new car and sat in it for hours. I asked if she was okay and she said there is so much in this car, I need to understand it. Now if we can do that for a car, what about our life, both here and now and for eternity. Surely we need to pull those giant mountains down and read and get to understand His Manual for our lives. If man teaches anything contrary to the Word, be cautious for his heart is deceived.

Now you might say to me, but what about Galatians? Now without going into any more detail than what I have already brought to light about the law spoken of, is the law of the religious leaders and NOT Torah, l want to point out that the whole New Testament was not around when Yehushua and Paul were teaching. The Scriptures they spoke of ALL refer to Torah!

Torah includes instruction on how to respect parents, how to handle a theft, how to treat your elders, how to remove mould from your dwelling, how to handle people when they are sick to prevent further spreading of disease. It tells you how to guarantee blessing and favour in your life. It tells you why everything you do fails. It gives you instructions so that when you hit a cross road in your life and have to make a decision, you should turn to the hand book and see what it says for that situation. He promises that when you do that and you consult with Him and follow His directions, He will bless your undertakings.

The instructions on the Temple cannot be applied currently for there is no Temple. Yehushua became the sacrificial lamb for the remission of sin. But many of the sacrificial instructions are also symbolic and give great insight into spiritual matters and how to deal with them. So realize – It All Has VALUE!

I do hope this has encouraged you to seek direction and the Way through His complete Word. Be careful of anyone who teaches and contradicts this. Please watch this short clip. You will begin to understand that His instructions are blessings!!!!

Shalom

To understand Scripture one has to understand the difference between a Greek translation and a Hebrew translation. To understand this of course one must understand that one thinks in a linear fashion and the other in far broader terms.

When discussing Scripture with a Greek or Greek/Roman mindset (which happens to be the entire western world) one will have constant disagreements about the absolute meaning of a piece of Scripture. That is because to a Greek/Roman mentality or Western mindset there is only one meaning to everything.

It is not this way with the Eastern mindset or with the Hebrew/Aramaic text. To understand this one should understand PARDES. Principals of PARDES can be applied to all Scripture.

P = PASHAT – this is the literal meaning of the text

R = REMEZ – Remez are the hints in the text that point to something deeper

D = DRASH – Drash is the added understanding that can be gleaned by a story, riddle or parable.

S = SOD – (pronounced like sewd – the go sound) Sod is the deepest level. This is the secret or underlying mystery revealed in the text.

A group of 3 Hebrew men can discuss a piece of Scripture and have 4 opinions – all right. This is because one can look at so many facets of a piece of Scripture and so many lessons can be gleaned from every piece. 3 Western men can discuss a piece of Scripture and disagree and leave and all start a new church because they could not agree.

You will know you have sifted and discerned Scripture correctly when there are no contradictions through out Scripture – when all is taken into account, where no teaching is done away with, when from the beginning of Genesis to the end of Revelation, one finds a consistent message and a continuing thread. Our Father has never changed His mind, had different rules for different people. Jews do not have one set of rules and Christians another. The Father and Messiah have and gave us the Torah (Instructions). This applies to all creaion.

The differences also extend to the many idioms used like “A land flowing with milk and honey”, does not mean a land with a lot of milk producing cows and bee hives. It means a fertile land.

To look upon ones nakedness is not to look at a naked woman it is to have sexual relations. When Noah was lying drunk, his son Ham came in and slept with his wife. Caanan was the product of the union. His father Noah was aware what happened and cursed the offspring and his descendants. So to understand the idioms is essential to understanding the script.

The Hebrew language also is very different. Every letter has a meaning. The letters can be mixed up and the new meaning will just throw more light on the word. An Excellent example is the way that the first book in the Bible got its Greek name Genesis, because the initial meaning of the Hebrew word Beresheet is “In the beginning”. So the Greek/western mindset translated it as Genesis – one single line – one single meaning.

But if you break it down more it includes the following meanings

Beth – build a house

Bar – for His Son

Baret – by making a covenant (first two letters and last two letters)

Reshet – for the sake of the beginning.

So, The Father started off by creating a house for the sake of His son by making a covenant. This Hebrew custom would take place when the Groom was building a house for His Bride. It was the only time they would build a house for a Son. So, from the beginning, this was all planned.

All that from a word that was translated as Genesis. I think I have made my point.

And for those that still think the Scriptures were written in Greek go to http://www.aramaicpeshitta.com or http://aramaicnttruth.org or http//www.raphaellataster.com and download the free book “Was the New Testament Really Written in Greek?”

When the Creator of the Universe set out, He had a plan. He executed the plan and nothing is a mistake. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Sift through this because much mud has been thrown in to deceive. Even the shepherds have helped throw in mud. That is why we are told we have One Rabbi, One Teacher and that is Messiah Yehushua.

More on the Name/s next time.
